Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for choosing Greenville Pediatric Services, Inc. to provide care for your child. The following questions and answers are provided to give you quick responses to a few commonly asked questions.

How frequently should a child be brought in for immunizations?

For information on the recommended immunization schedule for child and adolescents ages 18 years and younger, visit the CDC website by logging on to: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules/downloads/child/0-18yrs-child-combined-schedule.pdf

What do I need to bring in for an appointment?

All patients must complete our patient information sheet prior to seeing a provider. You must provide a current copy of your insurance card, as well as a photo ID that we will keep on file.

What is the best way to schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by calling our offices during regular operating hours.

 What insurances are accepted?

We participate with most insurance companies and accept Medicaid. It is your responsibility to verify that we are in network with your particular carrier.

What if I have an emergency after hours?

When the offices are closed, please call any of our locations to speak with Vidant Health Direct Nurse Triage. You may choose to be triaged or request to speak directly to the provider on call.

Why does my child need to receive vaccinations?

Immunizations are a series of shots given to children at different ages to help ward off serious, and potentially fatal diseases.

How often should my child see a pediatrician?

Children should not only see the pediatrician for an illness, but it is also important to schedule well-child-care exams regularly, beginning at infancy. Also called well-care visits or checkups, these routine examinations provide the best opportunity for the doctor to observe the progress of your child's physical and mental growth and development; to counsel and teach parents; to detect problems through screening tests; to provide immunizations, and to get to know one another.

How soon into my pregnancy should I choose a pediatrician?

It’s a good idea not to wait until the last minute to choose a pediatrician that you trust. In fact, you should choose a pediatrician while you are still pregnant. It’s a good idea to strongly consider your pediatric options between 28 and 34 weeks into your pregnancy.
